Rivalry Weekend- Friday

Week 13

Rivalry Weekend – Friday

Oregon State vs Oregon – Civil War– The gutless people on the west coast want to stop using this term to define this game because it “represents a connection to a war fought to perpetuate slavery.”  One, the president of Oregon State needs a major history lesson, two- there isn’t a soul alive that ever thought this game had anything to do with slavery or the war of northern aggression, and three, freakin grow a pair! The Beavers will travel just a bit up the road to Eugene, OR to take on the Ducks! OSU had a perfect opportunity to stay in the PAC-12 Championship hunt by ruining Washington’s undefeated season but came up just short as the fell 22-20. They fought hard and shut out the Huskies the entire second half, but they had a hard time scoring as well, it was a tough loss. The Ducks however took a different approach as they took on Arizona State and basically walked all over the Sun Devils, scoring 21 points in each, the 1st and 2nd quarters. Heisman hopeful Bo Nix threw for 404 yards, 6 TDs and 0 Ints, as he padded his numbers greatly. In the second half the substitutes got some playing time. Oregon, besides playing for state pride rights, as another incentive for winning this game, that is they need to win this game so they can make it into the PAC-12 Championship game for a rematch against Washington, on a neutral field. This is the only way they can be considered for a spot in the CPF. The Beavers are out, but they can play spoiler with their upstate rival and since this will more than likely be their last meeting for a while, would it be any wonder at all that OSU would love nothing more than to ruin everything for Ducks! Both these teams have fantastic rushing attacks, and both teams have good defensives as well, good for the left coast anyway. Oregon wins hands down in the Quarterback comparison though. Bo Nix who did not perform well at Auburn has found his nitch and is tearing it up in the passing department. In every game so far, the Quack Attack, has scored over 30 points and the Ducks Defense has held most opponents below 20, not all but a good deal of them. Both teams are going to be fired up and ready to play Friday night, but Beaver QB Uiagalelei being asked to match throws with red hot QB Nix is too much for him to carry. Oregon is going to win, its just a matter of how much.

Friday Short Smokes

Iowa, who is already in the Big Ten Championship Game, will be taking on Nebraska who is hoping to become bowl eligible, it’ll be a low scoring game, but the Hawkeyes take it.

Miami vs Boston College became famous because BC Qb Doug Flutie completed an unbelievable hail mary to win the game back in the 80’since then it has not been a big game. Both are 6-5 but the Hurricanes are favored.

Memphis will destroy Temple, this isn’t much of a rivalry, what are they playing for to see who’s city is worse?

Toledo at 10-1 should have little trouble with Central Michigan, they might not enjoy the Michigan cold, but the Chippewas won’t bother them.

Ohio pushes Akron aside, like everyone else has this year

UTSA, who’s head coach could be headed to A&M has a huge test as they take on Tulane who’s only loss this year was to Ole Miss.
